Some of the best habitat for the Lesser Prairie Chicken (LPC), a federally protected species, is located in West Texas. In one of the four Shinnery Sands areas of the historic Llano Estacado (Staked Plains)—part of the southern Great Plains—Tomahawk Conservation Bank (TCB) was approved to provide 2,740-acres of much needed conservation. TCB is directly adjacent to the Yoakum Dunes Wildlife Management Area, which is owned and managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Together, these properties protect almost 10,000-acres of vital importance for the LPC.
To bring the TCB properties to the market, RiverBank and Common Group Capital of Edmond, OK partnered with two ranching families to permanently protect and manage the properties — all while accommodating sustainable ranching operations.
